5 1/2 Months

No real reason for this posting, I just thought I actually looked pregnant this morning, so I made Colby take a picture.
I might wear this outfit every day. :)

It is still a Boy!

I went to the doctor today to get checked out because I was having some tightening and cramping in my uterus. The doctor wanted me to come in just to rule out anything that could be wrong. She examined me and said everything looked fine, but wanted me to have a sonogram just to make sure. Bonus! Well, I was actually kind of nervous and Colby ran up to the hospital to be with me. The doctor that performed the sonogram said that everything was perfect and just as it should be at this stage. I will spare you the details, but basically, Brady won't be getting out of there anytime soon.

The sonogram was a little shorter than our first one, but the doctor was really nice and went over some of the major things with us. He also did all of his measurements to confirm he is the right size. Everything matched up and we also got to confirm that he is DEFINITELY still a boy. In the end, it was a very reassuring day for us and it was so nice to see Brady in there moving around.

President's Day

Thank you Countrywide for observing President's Day. Griffin, Brady and I are relaxing in bed, watching the Today show and wondering why Britney Spears shaved her head. Today at 11:15 Colby and I are visiting the White Rock North School to check out their infant care program. We have heard good things and it is one, on our list of many, to visit before we decide on one. I am definitely planning on going back to work after Brady is born, but plan to take off the full 3 months with him. My job is going really well and I actually like it, so that is the plan for now.

The first decisions on the nursery have been made and the furniture has been ordered. It is beautiful and I can't wait for it to be delivered. I am (or should I say we are) deciding on baby bedding right now and will keep everyone posted on what we pick out. Colby isn't as interested in that part, but has definitely vetoed a few that I picked out for being way too girlie. :) Luckily we have pretty similar taste and really want something simple. Here is a link to the furniture.

21 Week Belly

Well, here we go. Finally, I can honestly say I need these maternity pants I have been wearing. Although I think it looks more like a beer belly, it is definitely there and I love it!

New Alarm Clock

Brady's new morning wake up time...4:45. He was up and ready to go to this morning, bright and early, ready for kick boxing class. I am sure we will have many more early mornings, but he is already getting me prepared. I don't mind though, I love any time I can feel him moving around in there, even if he is kicking me at 4:45 in the morning.

Griffin Loves Brady.

They say your pet can sense pregnancy and I believe it. Griffin is very protective and wants to lay on my belly almost constantly. Here are some cute pictures from this morning in his normal position, laying on my belly. I think he loves Brady already, you be the judge.

20 Weeks!!!!

Half way through! I cannot believe it. I had my 20 week/5 month appointment this morning and everything looked right on track. The appointments are quick and painless. Take your weight, pee in a cup, take your blood pressure, feel the uterus, hear the heartbeat. That is all there is to it. Of course the doctor asks how I am and if I have any questions, but that is about all that the monthly checkups include at this point. It is always fun to hear Brady's heartbeat, even though now I feel him moving, so I know he is in there. :)

I have gained 3 lbs since the last appointment, a month ago, which the doctor said was great and the top of my uterus is right at my belly button where it should be. It is always re-assuring to hear that everything is on track. She also recommended turning in my forms to Labor and Delivery now. It seems so far away, but I guess it is good to get it done now. I am sure time will FLY by.

Brady is moving more and more these days and almost has set schedule, which is so funny to think about. He loves to do baby aerobics mid morning, around 9:30 until 10:30. He is pretty quiet until about an hour after lunch when it is play time again. Then again after dinner and just a little adjusting when I lay down for bed. I usually get a few good kicks. He has to get comfortable for the night, I guess.

Will Brady be a Red Head?????

I think this is the most common question we get and I wish I knew the answer. It is actually much more complicated than you might think, even though everyone predicts this baby is going to come out with bright red hair and crazy freckles. Although that is a VERY good possibility, we have a complicated gene pool. Here is the breakdown...

Cara - Red Hair and freckles. Eyes: Blue
Colby - Red Hair as a child, brown now, lots of freckles. Eyes: Green
Cara's Mom - Red Hair as a child, auburn now (actually grey...shhh) Eyes: Brown
Cara's Dad - Blonde hair as a child, brown now, beard grows in red. Eyes: Blue
Cara's Brother - Blonde since birth, beard grows in red. Eyes: Blue
Colby's Mom - Black hair. Eyes: Green
Colby's Dad - Black hair. Eyes: Brown
Colby's Sister - Blonde hair as a child, brown now. Eyes: Hazel

Your guess is as good as mine. Should be a very interesting experiment and I can't wait to find out! Obviously hair color is the least of our concerns, but it is fun to think about. :)

Brady's Furniture

Well, we made our first shopping trip for nursery furniture and wow...there is a lot to choose from. I had no idea! We walked around the store about 15 times and finally tried to narrow it down to a few choices. We really like the dark, cherry wood finish, but now we need to find out just how much furniture we want to try to fit into his room. The crib is a must, of course, and a changing table, but then you have the armoire, the dresser, etc. So many choices. We are going to look again this weekend at a few more places, so I will keep everyone posted and hopefully get some pictures of the one we pick. The walls of his room are already painted baby blue, so that is a good start, but we still have a lot of little things to do before it is ready for him. It will be a fun process and I will keep everyone updated with pictures.
